At the discussion, the two sides concluded that their multi-faceted partnership – which has already been going on for 29 years – is successful, and also that they are interested in continuing and developing it.
The partnership with the Ohio National Guard involves, among others, participation in joint exercises, cyber defence cooperation, force protection, disaster management and civil-military cooperation (CIMIC). The steady progress of developments opens up an opportunity to further improve cooperation in the fields of air defence and air-to-air refuelling, as well as concerning the experiences of operating the National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS).
At the meeting, the two partners said that they highly appreciate all those valuable professional experiences relating to the system of territorial reserve that the Hungarian Defence Forces have gained during the partnership with the Ohio National Guard. The HDF wish to lay increasingly more emphasis on these experiences in the implementation of the National Defence and Armed Forces Development Program. This offers an opportunity for strengthening cooperation during joint exercises conducted by the reserve forces, to which the American forces are also welcome in Hungary.
