Defence of Hungary and Europe Does not Begin at our Borders

We are committed to supporting the security of the region, for which EUFOR Operation ALTHEA is indispensable. We are proud that the EU operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina has been led by a Hungarian commander, Major General Dr. László Sticz, for almost a year. The general recently talked about his experiences to Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky in person.
Related to the Hungarian year of command, air search and rescue and MEDEVAC capabilities, the rotary-wing Aviation Detachment, and EOD teams with patrol dogs are provided by the Hungarian Defence Forces, which also contribute to the ROLE-1 and logistical support and supply capabilities of the international operation. Our service has also been strengthened by a new Airbus H225M helicopter since October.
