The KC-390 Millenium is a two-engine, rear-ramp, new-generation, medium military transport aircraft designed and produced by the Brazilian aerospace manufacturer Embraer. The first KC-390 of the Hungarian Defence Forces is stationed at Kecskemét – it is an excellent and at once beautiful aircraft.
The KC-390 is a T-tail, high-wing aircraft whose design is usual for the transport role. Each of its two efficiently operating, IAE V2531-E5 turbofan engines with full authority digital engine control (FADEC 7) system provides a maximum of 132 kN thrust for the Millenium.
The length of the cargo compartment is 18.54 meters (12.68 meters without rear ramp), its width is 3.45 meters, and its height is 3.2 meters. It is interesting to note that the rear ramp, too, can be loaded and burdened during transportation, so almost the entire “airspace” of the cargo compartment can be utilized. Its 10-wheel landing gear design allows it to operate on grass airstrips as well, as it does not require concrete-paved surface.
