Hungarian–Serbian expert-level meeting

Bilateral cooperation program signed

In early April, heading a delegation, Colonel Albert Gróf, Head of MoD Department for International Cooperation visited Belgrade at the invitation of his Serbian counterpart, Colonel Nebojša Svjetlica, Head of International Military Cooperation Department, Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia.

The meeting was aimed at reviewing the current situation of bilateral military cooperation, surveying the possibilities for its development and signing the 2023 Serbian–Hungarian Bilateral Military Cooperation Program. Colonel Albert Gróf pointed out that Hungary attaches outstanding significance to the stability and security of the Western Balkans, and considers Serbia both as a strategic partner and as a friend. Serbian–Hungarian military-to-military relations have made significant progress over the last few years as well, and the relationships between the ministries of defence and the armed forces are excellent. The two delegations agreed that our objective continues to be to maintain and further strengthen our military-to-military relations.

During the expert-level negotiation, the two sides had opportunity to review the bilateral cooperation programs planned for 2023, and to discuss the future possibilities for cooperation. At the end of the meeting, the heads of the two departments for international cooperation expressed their expectation that the upcoming period would see an increase in joint activities, and then signed, with one accord, the 2023 Hungarian–Serbian Bilateral Military Cooperation Program. During the visit to Belgrade, Assistant Minister for Defence Policy of the Ministry of Defence of Serbia Predrag Bandić received Colonel Albert Gróf on a courtesy call. At their meeting, the two sides highlighted the significance of the excellent military cooperation between Hungary and Serbia.
