The Czech Republic joined the Structured Partnership in Logistics (SPiL) project of the German-Hungarian logistic cooperation as a full-fledged member. The logistic directors of the two countries approved the accession request during their discussion in Dresden in November.

The meeting was hosted by Brigadier General Ralf Lungershausen, Deputy Commander of the Bundeswehr Logistic Command, while the Hungarian delegation was headed by Brigadier General Ferenc Solymosi, Commander of the HDF Logistic Support Command. At the meeting, they discussed and assessed the tasks planned for and carried out this year, and they also covered the main directions of the next years’ practices and meetings.

The German-Hungarian SpiL is not only the cooperation of these two countries but it is also open to other nations and organizations. Following the accession of the Czech Republic, the name of the project was changed to Multinational Structured Partnership in Logistics.

Several other nations expressed their interest in forming multinational logistic capabilities, such as Croatia and Slovakia, which currently have observer status in the partnership.

The goal of the cooperation is that via it participants can create tactical-level logistic sub-units by capabilities, conforming to the NATO criteria, while constantly sustaining operational readiness. A basic project of this is the deployable field propellant storage capability and the other is a task system based on the set-up and operation of a medium carrier company.

The German-Hungarian joint sub-unit reached full operational readiness in the field of propellant storage in 2021, while the carrier company reached this same level in 2023. Both sub-units proved their operational deployability in carrying out numerous tasks with real logistic support, including Steadfast Defender 24, Brave Warrior 24, Vigorous Warrior 24 & Clean Care 24 and Grand South 24.
