Related to the plans for 2025, the minister said that “in today’s rapidly changing, unstable international environment, it is outstandingly important that Serbia and Hungary, as neighbouring countries, constantly consult each other on a high level in the interest of regional stability”.
He added that out of the neighbouring non-EU and non-NATO member states, Hungary has the most intensive bilateral defence and military relations with Serbia, and also contributes to the modernization of the Serbian Armed Forces.
Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky pointed out that the cooperation between the two defence ministries and armed forces is getting stronger, Serbia and Hungary are strategic partners, and have expanded their partnership to the fields of defence and military cooperation since 2023.

The minister declared that, under the agreement signed on Tuesday, altogether 79 mutual programs will be implemented in 2025, such as the flotilla training as well as the multinational peacekeeping mission tactical exercise and infantry training organized for the volunteer reserve personnel. He pointed out that these programs contribute to the further development of relations between the two countries and ensure the attainment of common goals in the defence and military fields.
Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky called attention to Hungary being “committed to the peace and stability of the Western Balkans, a key player of which is Serbia”. Finally, he underlined that Hungary’s international military engagement also shows the significance of the Western Balkans, as Hungary “is an active participant in the KFOR and EUFOR operations from the beginnings, and has contributed commanders and hundreds of troops to both operations”.
