Staff discussion and course in Italy
Text: HDF Force Modernization and Transformation Command | Photo: by the military organization |  13:17 June 19, 2023A delegation from the Hungarian Defence Forces Force Modernization and Transformation Command (HDF MTC) recently arrived in Italy for a three-day professional visit.
Headed by Major General Dr. László Sticz, Commander, HDF MTC, besides the directors of the HDF MTC, the members of the delegation were Brigadier General (Ret.) Bertalan Farkas as well as Prof. Dr. Lajos Pintér, Honorary Consul of Hungary in Verona. As part of their program, at the invitation of Director Dr. Gábor Kudar, the members of the Hungarian delegation visited the Hungarian Academy (Accademia d’Ungheria) in Rome. During their three-day stay in Italy, they conducted several professional discussions, among others with the experts of the Italian Space Operations Command, the NATO Modelling and Simulation Centre of Excellence as well as the C4I Systems & Digital Transformation Division. On behalf of the Italian Defence General Staff, Rear Admiral Gianfranco Annunziata received the Hungarian delegation on an office call.
Major General Dr. László Sticz also attended the Generals, Flag Officers and Ambassadors’ Course (GFOAC) held at the NATO Defense College in Rome in the first half of June. The Course aimed to enhance the understanding of current political-military issues and concerns affecting NATO and the strategic context, as well as to personally introduce the participants and to foster mutual understanding. In addition, the course increased cohesion among strategic leaders, and provided adequate conditions for promoting personal and professional networking amongst participants.
On receiving the course certificate, on behalf Hungary’s Minister of Defence Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky. the commander of the HDF MTC presented the “Honors for the Alliance” Medal of Merit to Lieutenant General Olivier Rittimann, Commandant of the NATO Defense College. The commandant has been awarded the military decoration in recognition of his devoted service in carrying out activities for a long time in the interest of executing Alliance tasks.
