During the visit, Lieutenant General Ferenc Kajári underlined that the stability of the Western Balkans and the EU integration of the continent’s southeastern region are of outstanding importance to Hungary. Our country is still committed to preserving the territory’s security, which is demonstrated by the Hungarian Defence Forces’ participation in the KFOR and EUFOR missions, he added. The cooperation between RACVIAC and Hungary has been exemplary for years, which is strengthened by arms control courses, as well as the participation of Hungarian experts and lecturers. Hungary helps the international security organization’s operation with representatives and program support as well.

The meeting was held at the beginning of the arms control course based on the Vienna Document 2011 of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), organized by RACVIAC. The course with more than thirty participants, which will end on Friday, is being held with the contribution of the HDF Operations Directorate Arms Control Branch, at venues in Budapest, Debrecen, Hajdúhadház, Nyíregyháza and Szentendre.

The goal of RACVIAC, established in 2000, is to enhance dialogue and cooperation among Southeast European states for the sake of security and stability. Its courses, conferences and exercises serve as platforms for discussing the issues of peace and security. The RACVIAC announced last month that from May 2026, its new director will be Miroslav Ščepanović from Montenegro.
