The Croatian colleagues raised their need for this training after the German–Hungarian fuel supply Exercise Safety Fuel held in the summer of 2024, and coordinated the details with the team of operators and trainers in Hetényegyháza during a meeting of Subject Matter Experts. They asked the Hungarian specialist personnel to provide assistance with acquiring the methodology of fielding a Bulk Fuel Installation (BFI) while using the Croatians’ own never-before used special technological equipment.

The head of the Croatian delegation, First Lieutenant Gabriel Simunic said that this was the first time when they had fielded and tested the elastic tanks with 200,000 liters of storage capacity, pipelines and pumps in their inventory under real-world circumstances.

During the training session, participants learned not only the steps of fielding but also those of operating and dismantling. Special attention was paid to the joint development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

The lessons learned during the training directly contribute to increasing the technological preparedness of the participating personnel and also to the safe and efficient use and operation of BFIs. The joint training at once provides an excellent opportunity for the joint testing of equipment and procedures, harmonizing national protocols and deepening professional cooperation.
