From Mikus Hill to the podium

The Hungarian Defence Forces vitéz Szurmay Sándor Budapest Garrison Brigade recently organized the International Patrol and Shooting Competition already on the 29th occasion at the HDF BGB Training Base and Range. The program of the three-day, testing trial of strength for the participants included a run of tens of kilometers, sweaty strength exercises, shooting and hand-grenade throwing. This time, the travelling trophy went to the Polish team.

The close to 100-strong Hungarian contingent designated to participate at Combat Readiness Exercise 2026 (CRX26) of the Ohio National Guard has arrived at Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center, Grayling, Michigan. After a more than 12-hour flight aboard a C-17 Globemaster III military cargo aircraft and disembarkation, the soldiers continued their journey to the training base by bus.

Saint Ladislaus, Patron Saint of Infantry Soldiers, Honoured in Pristina

For the first time in Pristina, a Hungarian-language Holy Mass was celebrated at the Cathedral of Saint Teresa of Calcutta in honour of King Saint Ladislaus, the patron saint of infantry soldiers. The Mass was celebrated by Major Kornél Horváth, military chaplain of the Hungarian Defence Forces, with the intention of establishing a new tradition.

This is how one can summarize the tactical week of the HDF 30th Mechanized Infantry Brigade held in the Bakony Hills, where the soldiers of the 2nd company of the 1st Grenadier Battalion breached a bunker, seized it and then conducted trench warfare. The training sessions did not end nightfall, as the mortar platoons used their Hirtenberger M12 mortars to break the silence of the night.
