Agreement with the 4iG on Strengthening Hungarian Defence Capabilities
Text: Ministry of Defence | Photo: Sztaniszláv Horváth |  13:37 March 3, 2026The purpose of the now-signed agreement is to strengthen Hungary’s defence capabilities and the competitiveness of the domestic defence industry in the long-term, declared Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky at the ceremonious signature of the cooperation agreement among the Ministry of Defence, the Hungarian Defence Forces and 4iG Space and Defence Technologies (SDT).

The document was signed by Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, Chief of Defence General Dr. Gábor Böröndi and Gellért Jászai, Chairman of 4iG Group. Within the framework of the agreement, the parties work together on developing the Hungarian Defence Forces’ capabilities, increasing their security of supply and enhancing their innovation efforts.
The cooperation involves national and international defence developments, the participation in EU and NATO initiatives and modern technological and innovation fields, including space technology, land and air systems, multidimensional operation systems, research and development and digitalisation.
The minister emphasized that the goal is to create a stable, modern industrial and technological background that can meet the demands of the HDF on the highest professional level. He added that the cooperation gives momentum to the domestic defence industry, supports small and medium enterprises of the defence sphere in getting on the market and contributes to creating jobs and strengthening industrial capabilities.
The minister underlined that the parties create a joint annual work plan that defines short- and long-term priorities, as well as the concrete tasks of the cooperation.
The new agreement strengthens the capabilities of the Hungarian Defence Forces, forms a solid basis for future developments and provides an opportunity for Hungary to be an active participant in modern defence technological and industrial programs on the international level, concluded Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky.
