Serbian–Hungarian Experts’ Meeting in Budapest

Heading a delegation, Colonel Nebojša Svjetlica, Head of the Serbian Ministry of Defence Department for International Military Cooperation visited Hungary at the invitation of Colonel Albert Gróf, Head of the MoD Department for International Cooperation from 21 to 22 March. The goals of the Serbian–Hungarian experts’ meeting were to discuss military-to-military cooperation and to sign the Serbian–Hungarian Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan 2024.

Renewing HDF Search and Rescue Capabilities

Old equipment is being replaced with modern helicopters at the Hungarian Defence Forces search and rescue (SAR) service – announced Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky. He also added that old Mi-17 helicopters have recently been replaced with new H145M ones.

Hungary’s increasing engagement abroad and the changed international environment have necessitated the further development of the tactical fighter capability of the air force. For this reason, the government of Hungary has made a decision to procure four additional JAS 39 Gripen multirole tactical fighters to complement the 14 JAS 39s already in service – announced Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky.

Test Flight with the First Hungarian KC-390 Military Transport Aircraft

The first Embraer KC-390 military transport aircraft of the Hungarian Defence Forces took off in Brazil on 8 February. According to the plans, the aircraft will be delivered to Hungary this year. By using this type of Brazilian aircraft that attracts increasing attention worldwide, the HDF are acquiring a new capability in the field of military air transport.

Hungarian EU Presidency priorities to include defence industry development
