There is still a munitions factory operating in Hungary today. In Sirok. Besides, this is not a newly established plant: the history of munitions manufacturing in Sirok dates back more than seventy years, and the traditions of munitions manufacturing in Hungary can be traced all the way back to 1881, according to a post by Dr Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi, Minister of Defence, on his social media page.

Military World Championships in Hungary

Hungary will host the 49th CISM World Military Fencing Championships from September 18 to October 1, 2026. Eighteen nations, represented by more than 200 fencers, will compete in virtually every fencing discipline. The World Championships will be organized by the Hungarian Defence Forces, in cooperation with the HDF Sports Company, and managed by the Hungarian Fencing Federation. The event will be held at the Veszprém One Arena.

László Kürtös, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, held important consultations with Polish partners and stakeholders of the defence industry at the MSPO defence industry trade fair in Kielce. The meetings focused on reliable partnership, transparent dialogue, and the further strengthening of Hungarian–Polish defence cooperation. The discussions confirmed that cooperation within the Visegrád Four as an alliance can once again play an important and strong role.
