MoD Deputy State Secretary for Defence Policy László Hajnik (Hungarian Defence Policy Director) received Alexandre Escorcia, Head of the Department for Europe, North America and Multilateral Action at the Directorate General for International Relations and Strategy (DGRIS) at the Ministry of the Armed Forces of France (French Assistant Defence Policy Director) in Budapest on 15 July.

Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky said that on Tuesday, 23 July, three of the world’s most modern main battle tanks would arrive in Hungary. With the new vehicles, the tank fleet of the Hungarian Defence Forces’ armoured brigade in Tata expands to 18.

Within the framework of the Hungarian presidency of the Council of the EU, the Bálna Defence Centre in Budapest hosted the informal meeting of EU defence policy directors on 17 July. The session was chaired by Charles Fries, Deputy Secretary General for Peace, Security and Defence of the European External Action Service (EEAS).
More Airbus Helicopters Delivered to the HDF

Two more Airbus H225M medium, multi-role helicopters arrived in Hungary on Monday, said the defence minister. Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky also said that with the now-arriving aircraft, the number of H225M helicopters in the Hungarian Defence Forces grew to ten. The ministry had ordered altogether 16 medium-lift transport helicopters from Airbus Helicopters within the framework of the military development program.

Hungary is taking over the presidency of the Council of the European Union in a critical period when we have to navigate in a complex security environment and when defence is occupying a distinguished place in the EU’s agenda, said General Dr. Gábor Böröndi, Chief of HDF General Staff, at the Embassy of Hungary in Brussels on Wednesday, 3 July. Upon the proposal of the Hungarian presidency, the representatives of the EU Military Committee will not negotiate in Brussels but in a member state for the first time in the EU’s history; thus, Hungary will host this high-ranking event in October.

On 21 June, MoD Deputy State Secretary for Defence Policy László Hajnik paid a visit to Belgrade. During his official trip, the deputy state secretary held a discussion with Serbian Defence Policy Director Predrag Bandic, at which the two sides reviewed in detail the security situation of the Western Balkans region as well as the main aspects and issues of the bilateral military and defence cooperation.
Hungarian military type certificate to the brazilian KC-390 aircraft type

After more than two years of strenuous professional work, the type-worthiness inspection of the KC-390 military multi-purpose transport aircraft manufactured by the Brazilian company Embraer S.A., which will be system tuned by the Hungarian Defence Forces this year, has been successfully completed. The procedure was carried out by the State Aviation Department of the Ministry of Defence, as the military aviation authority responsible for the supervision of Hungarian state aviation, in accordance with the legal requirements for Hungarian state aviation.
