The salary of the soldiers being increased this year as well

The salary of the soldiers is being increased again as of 1 January 2024. Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky said that the salary increase in the Hungarian Defence Forces covers an 11 percent increase on average but it may vary according to the category of the personnel.

Hungarian contribution to anti-terrorism action

On behalf of the government, Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky has tabled his proposed amendment on Hungary’s military role in Iraq. Based on the draft resolution tabled by him, at most 20 troops – or 40 in rotational periods – would serve in the international military operations conducted against the Islamic State. Their mandate will run until 31 December 2025.

Hungarian commander at the helm of EUFOR

Hungarian Major General Dr. László Sticz will lead EUFOR – the European Union’s Operation Althea in Bosnia-Herzegovina – for a year starting from January 2024, announced Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky.
