American-Hungarian Defence Relations Strengthen Further

Upon the invitation of László Hajnik, MoD Deputy State Secretary for Defence Policy, David Baker, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for European and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Policy of the U.S. Department of Defense visited Budapest between 16 and 17 April. The official of the Pentagon visited Hungary during his first foreign trip following his appointment.

At the beginning of the meeting, the parties signed a joint declaration, with which they created the high-level defence working group of the USA and Hungary that would meet regularly. The working group aims at strengthening the bilateral defence and military-to-military cooperation, as well as the defence policy dialogue. They also discussed current security and defence policy issues, as well as the bilateral and multilateral relations of the two countries in the field of practical cooperation.
Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky received the American delegation on a courtesy call.
