Seventeen members of the Budapest Military Attaché Corps (BMAC) recently paid a visit to the HDF 101st Aviation Wing. During the visit, the representatives gained an insight into the organizational structure and task system of the unit, and then learned about the capabilities of the JAS 39 Gripen fighter aircraft at static and dynamic displays.

In the organization of the Ministry of Defence Department for International Cooperation, the defence, military and air attachés accredited to Hungary visited Kecskemét with the purpose of being introduced to the unit in order to gain a comprehensive picture of an element of the HDF air force and its capabilities.

Wing Vice-Commander Colonel Tamás Fekete gave the attachés a presentation to introduce them to the past, the organizational structure and the current task system of the unit. Afterwards, the military diplomats saw the pilots’ flight suits and equipment at the life support workshop, and then they learned about the systems the airmen use to obtain information about meteorological events.

For the attachés, one of the most uplifting moments of their visit was when they had opportunity to see close up the preflight inspection and take-off of JAS 39 Gripens, and then they attended a demo of the wing’s force protection unit performed with assisting guard dogs.

The attachés closed their visit with learning about the capabilities of JAS 39 fighter jets while attending a static display.
