Armed Forces Development Now Focuses on People

The Government of Hungary already saw more than ten years ago that the world is changing in a dangerous direction; therefore, they launched an armed forces development program that aims at completely renewing the Hungarian Defence Forces, said Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky at the ceremony of the Ministry of Defence and the Hungarian Defence Forces, combined with an awarding ceremony, on the occasion of Saint Stephen’s Day.

Our Military Athletes Won a Gold and a Bronze Medal

The 42nd World Military Judo Championship was hosted by Tashkent this year. In the capital city of Uzbekistan, 213 military athletes from 29 nations stood up on the tatami. From the four-member Hungarian delegation, Lance Corporal Roland Gőz won a gold medal in the 90kg category, while Corporal Brigitta Vargha won a bronze medal in the 63kg category.

Attachés’ Visit to Hódmezővásárhely

Eighteen members of the Budapest Military Attaché Corps (BMAC) visited the HDF 30th Mechanized Infantry Brigade on 25 September. During the visit, the delegation gained insight into the structure and task system of the unit, then they learned about the capabilities of the Lynx infantry fighting vehicle during a static display.

This year, Szolnok hosts the 46th World Military Parachuting Championship organized by the International Military Sports Council (CISM). Nearly 300 parachutists from 32 nations recently arrived in the garrison town to register on the day before the opening, occupy their accommodations and have a little rest before the world competition.
