The Teams Have Arrived in Szolnok

This year, Szolnok hosts the 46th World Military Parachuting Championship organized by the International Military Sports Council (CISM). Nearly 300 parachutists from 32 nations recently arrived in the garrison town to register on the day before the opening, occupy their accommodations and have a little rest before the world competition.
Expanding airlift capacity in Pápa

Stationed at the Hungarian Defence Forces 47th Air Base, the Heavy Airlift Wing (HAW) reached another significant milestone with the opening of the 3,200 square-meter Combined Aerial Port Facility (CAPF) in Pápa on 19 June. As a result of two years of construction works, the HAW’s airlift capability has been expanded with an increased warehouse capacity, new offices and a parachute drying tower.

“It is no exaggeration to say that the crown of a military career is serving in foreign missions, where everybody goes with the most state-of-the-art equipment currently in service with the Hungarian Defence Forces, following the highest-level pre-deployment training” – said Major General Zoltán Schmidt, Deputy Chief of HDF General Staff for Economic Affairs in Pákozd on the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers on 29 May.
International military observers on closing exercise

On 24 April, the participants of the 44th International Military Observer Course (IMOC) conducted the closing exercise of their three-week training program at the HDF Peace Support Centre. The students from 18 nations carried out information gathering missions, patrol tasks and aerial reconnaissance flight. As one of the last phases of their closing exercise, the participants assisted with the treatment of casualties in a refugee camp and practiced media relations skills as well.
Expanding rotary-wing fleet

On Monday, 4 December another two Airbus H225M helicopters arrived at the Szolnok airbase of the HDF 86th Helicopter Wing. During the development of the armed forces, the Hungarian Defence Forces are going to receive a total of 16 such helicopters.
Locally manufactured Airbus helicopter parts receive surface treatment in Gyula

Starting from 29 November, the surface treatment of helicopter components manufactured in the nearby factory of Airbus Helicopters Hungary Ltd is to be carried out in the Gyula plant of Satys PSP Hungary Ltd, so in the future, the components that can be installed into the helicopters will be 100% made in Hungary”, this was what Attila Kiss, the CEO of Satys PSP Hungary Ltd announced in Gyula.
Focusing on peace support operations cooperation

The HDF Peace Support Training Centre has recently conducted the Peace Support Operations Cooperation Course (PSOCC) on the seventh occasion. On 24 November, at the closing ceremony of the two-week training, 24 course participants from 14 nations received their certificates.

On 10-11 October, in accordance with the provisions of the Vienna Document 2011 on Confidence and Security Building Measures – in the framework of the demonstration of new types of major weapon and equipment systems and visits to airbases and military facilities arranged in the area of Hungary – a 54-man international delegation arrived at the HDF 101st Aviation Wing and the HDF 1st Armored Brigade.
Weapons Intelligence Teams attack the network

The International Training Branch of the HDF NCO Academy is holding an International Weapons Intelligence Team (WIT) Course for 19 soldiers from 14 NATO member states. On 27 September, in the organization of the NATO C-IED Centre of Excellence, the course participants were practicing Counter-Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) techniques at Csobánka.
Attachés’ visit to Kecskemét

Seventeen members of the Budapest Military Attaché Corps (BMAC) recently paid a visit to the HDF 101st Aviation Wing. During the visit, the representatives gained an insight into the organizational structure and task system of the unit, and then learned about the capabilities of the JAS 39 Gripen fighter aircraft at static and dynamic displays.
