This year, Szolnok hosts the 46th World Military Parachuting Championship organized by the International Military Sports Council (CISM). Nearly 300 parachutists from 32 nations recently arrived in the garrison town to register on the day before the opening, occupy their accommodations and have a little rest before the world competition.

Registration sheets, boards with the names of countries and gift bags received the participants of the 46th CISM World Military Parachuting Championship in the designated building of the HDF 86th Helicopter Wing on 2 July. The hustle and bustle were considerable even in the morning hours, as the organizers registered nearly 300 people and then accompanied the teams to their accommodations. Lieutenant Colonel Ernő Chmelik, a senior officer of the HDF Air Force Command Training Directorate told us in answer to our question that the teams arrive right here from the airport, then they are registered and informed about the accommodation and the schedule.

The lieutenant colonel underlined that the national flags and anthems are also discussed because no mistakes are accepted at the ceremonies. After the registration, competitors are accompanied to their accommodations in Szolnok. The world championship begins with the opening ceremony in Hild Square on 3 July, after which the parachutists can prepare with warm-up jumps for the competition that lasts until 11 July.
