Bulgarian–Hungarian cooperation
Text: Ministry of Defence | Photo: Ministry of Defence |  10:03 June 2, 2023At the invitation of Bulgarian Brigadier General Radostin Iliev, Director for Defence Policy and Planning, MoD Deputy State Secretary for Defence Policy László Hajnik paid an official visit to Sofia between 24-26 May. During the discussion, both sides agreed with the significance of developing bilateral defence relations, emphasizing that it is necessary to find the new fields and means of cooperation for the expansion of the existing relations.
At the meeting, both heads of delegation talked about the current state of NATO battle groups established in Bulgaria and Hungary, the positions represented in supporting Ukraine as well as some issues of the ongoing security policy cooperation on the level of NATO and the EU. The discussion ended with the signing of the bilateral military cooperation plan for the year 2023. In what followed, the members of the Hungarian delegation visited the “G. S. Rakovski” National Defence College (RNDC), where Major General Todor Dochev, Commandant of RNDC informed them about the workings and organizational structure of the RNDC, and the forms of education applied in the institution.
During the program, the delegation participated in a reception held on the occasion of Hungary’s National Defence Day, which took place in the building of the Embassy of Hungary in Sofia. In his speech, after highlighting the significance and historical background of the day, László Hajnik praised the successes achieved by the Hungarian Defence Forces and pointed out the tasks of the present and the future as well.
