Between 2–7 July, a high-level Ecuadorian military delegation paid a visit to Hungary. It is the firm intention of the two countries’ ministries of defence to establish closer bilateral cooperation in the field of defence. In this spirit, on 5 July, after its arrival in Hungary, the delegation headed by Brigadier General Franklin Fabián Pico Medina representing the Ministry of National Defence went to Szolnok to see the military units stationed there.
The South American delegates from the navy, the army and the Cyber Defence Command were received at the HDF 86th Helicopter Wing by Vice-Commander Colonel Zsolt Simon, who gave the guests a presentation about the unit. In the morning, the delegation participated in a static display to see the Mi-17 and Mi-24 helicopters, and also had the opportunity to test the Mi-17 helicopter simulator. At the meeting, on behalf of the helicopter wing, Colonel Zsolt Simon presented a shield to Brigadier General Franklin Fabián Pico Medina.
The professional visit continued in the HDF Peace Support Training Centre and then at the RepTár Szolnok Aviation Museum. At the centre, Acting Deputy Commander of HDF PSTC Major Lajos Asztalos received the guests, and then first introduced them to the peacetime training task system of the unit and informed them about the Hungarian lessons learned in international operations, peace enforcement and peacekeeping missions.
