Four World Championship Medals and Presidential Thanks

The closing ceremony of the four-day world competition, which ended on October 1, was held in Balatonakarattya, where Colonel Nilton Gomes Rolim Filho, President of the International Military Sports Council (CISM), said thanks for the professional organization and management of the World Championship.

Among the male foil fencers, Corporal Dániel Dósa won, while in the women's category, Corporal Flóra Pásztor finished third in the individual event. The women’s foil team consisting of Corporal Flóra Pásztor, Sergeant Dóra Lupkovics, Sergeant Kata Kondricz and Reserve Sergeant Karolina Zsoldosi as well as the men’s epeé team consisting of Captain András Rédli, Lieutenant Gergely Siklósi, Reserve Corporal Levente Buta and Reserve Corporal József Bálint Tamás won bronze medals.
Competitors from 16 nations took to the piste during the World Championship. In his speech at the closing ceremony, Colonel Zsolt Sándor, Chief of HDF Defence Staff, emphasized that defence sports competitions bring together people who wear different uniforms, speak different languages and come from different cultures.

Colonel Nilton Gomes Rolim Filho, President of the International Military Sports Council (CISM), said that the representatives of different nations were characterized by the same values – accuracy, discipline and courage – which are considered important everywhere in national defence. Hungary is a country with a long tradition of fencing, and it has shown this in recent days, he added, saying thanks for the professional organization of the World Championship.
The 49th CISM World Military Fencing Championship, which started on Monday, September 28 and ended on Thursday, October 1, brought together about 200 competitors from Belgium, Brazil, the Republic of Korea, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Lebanon, Italy, Peru, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine and Hungary. The Hungarian national team consisted of 16 members. The events were held at the One Veszprém Arena in Veszprém.
