Hungarian House in Sarajevo Renovated
Text: EUFOR | Photo: First Lieutenant Barna Koncsek |  12:36 June 24, 2024Hungarian peacekeepers recently reoccupied the Hungarian House in Camp Butmir following its overall renovation.
The premises helping the Hungarian soldiers and civilians serving with EUFOR Operation Althea and at the NATO Headquarters Sarajevo to spend their free time meaningfully were left to the Hungarians in 2010 by the outgoing Canadian contingent. During the nearly fifteen years passed since then, the walls of the Hungarian House have witnessed several memorable moments, including national days, farewell ceremonies or rotations and Christmas gatherings. However, time has left its mark on both the building and its equipment.
As EUFOR Commander Major General Dr. László Sticz said at the handover ceremony, renovating the Hungarian House was among the distinguished national projects of the EUFOR Hungarian year of command, as in a tidy and modern environment, the Hungarian personnel can take rest in a worthy way after their service. The personnel serving in the mission celebrated the re-opening with Hungarian dishes.
