The defence minister gave his opinion together with his colleague János Bóka, Minister responsible for European Union Affairs, on the matter in his opening speech at the two-day Budapest Balkans Forum, which was organized by the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs.
“Hungary has always handled the neighbouring region as distinguished. Hungarian soldiers have participated in international missions in the region since the beginning, in 2022, the KFOR had and now the EUFOR has a Hungarian commander. The goal of the Central European Defence Cooperation (CEDC), led by a Hungarian presidency this year, is also to support the security and stability of the Balkans. Moreover, the EU integration of the region is among the priorities of the Hungarian EU presidency starting in July” – wrote the defence minister in his post.
