Meeting of Visegrád Four Chiefs of Defence

Besides General Daniel Zmeko, the Slovak host of the event, Polish Chief of Defence General Rajmund T. Andrzejczak, Czech Chief of Defence Lieutenant General Karel Rehka and Lieutenant General Dr. Gábor Böröndi, Chief of the Hungarian Defence Forces General Staff were also present at the working conference that is summoned twice every year.
During the event, the military leaders reviewed those new strategic challenges that emerge from the changed security environment of Europe, and in this regard, they also discussed in detail the future of the defence cooperation of the V4 nations.
At an extended meeting with the Chair of the NATO Military Committee Admiral Rob Bauer, the participants also discussed NATO’s long-term plans of “deterrence and defence” and the lessons learned so far from the war in Ukraine. The four Chiefs of Defence signed a joint statement on the shared positions reached at the working conference.
As a highlight of the program of the event, the Czech Republic took over the tasks of the V4 military presidency from Slovakia.
