Strong sovereign states make NATO stronger – said MoD State Secretary for Defence Strategy and Human Resources Policy Zsolt Kutnyánszky in Budapest on Thursday, 19 September.
In his opening address delivered at the conference NATO75 – Hungary and the Future of NATO organized by the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs (HIIA), the state secretary (in our archive photo) noted that in today’s rapidly changing security environment, there is greater need for NATO than ever before, and that new solutions are needed to maintain credible deterrence and defence in the future as well.
He added that as a committed member of the Alliance, Hungary takes seriously the challenge that is transforming the whole defence sector and defence industry. He recalled that the largest-scale modernization program of the armed forces involving the procurement of new NATO-compatible equipment is taking place in Hungary, and that recruitment campaigns have also been launched. “In such turbulent times, we must work together as allies” – pointed out Zsolt Kutnyánszky.
