Preparing EUFOR Commander visits NATO Joint Force Command Naples
Text: HDF General Staff, JFCNP Hungarian contingent | Photo: JFCNP |  13:16 November 13, 2023On 8 November – in the spirit of preparing for the Hungarian EUFOR Commander’s (COMEUFOR) one-year tenure which is to start in January 2024 – Major General Dr. László Sticz, Commander, Hungarian Defence Forces Force Modernization and Transformation Command paid a visit to NATO Joint Force Command Naples (JFCNP).
On the occasion of the visit, Chief of Staff JFCNP Lieutenant General Vasco Angelotti received in his office Major General Dr. László Sticz. Headed by Major General Sticz, the preparing EUFOR delegation held discussions with Colonel Anastasios Chatzoudis, Director of Staff, EU Coordination Element (EUCE) at JFCNP; with Rear Admiral Clark Maximilian, Assistant Chief of Staff Operations (J3), JFCNP; as well as with Colonel Árpád Szabó, Senior National Representative of the Hungarian soldiers serving in Naples.
During the visit, the delegation was informed – among others – the tasks of the EUCE, the current situation of the Balkans Joint Operations Area (JOA), the joint reserve forces of NATO and EU in the Balkans, the procedures for force generation, rotation and on-call forces, the plans of JFCNP for the Balkans JOA, the role of NATO Headquarters Sarajevo (NHQSa) in Operation Althea and the partnership between NATO and Bosnia-Herzegovina – the best-prepared subject matter experts provided the delegation with the necessary information.
