With the Hungarian EUFOR Commander’s year 2024 approaching, the pre-deployment training of the personnel to travel abroad is slowly nearing completion. In the last days of November, a professional delegation from the Ministry of Defence and the Joint Staff of the armed forces of Bosnia-Herzegovina paid a visit to Hungary at the invitation of Lieutenant General Ferenc Kajári, Deputy Chief of HDF General Staff. The upcoming change of command of EUFOR Operation Althea in the Balkans state – where a Hungarian general will become commander of the European Union’s military operation as of January 2024 – gave a special topicality to their stay here.
Hungarian colonel receives Knight’s Cross

On 28 November, France’s ambassador to Hungary Claire Legras decorated Colonel Dr. József András Balogh, Legal and Administrative Chief of the HDF General Staff with the Knight’s Cross of the National Order of Merit (Ordre national du Mérite) of France.

On November 20, Major General László Sticz PhD, the next commander of Operation Althea of the European Union Force (EUFOR) paid a visit to Paris, heading a delegation. The aim of the visit was to learn about the details of the French engagement in Bosnia-Herzegovina and about the French–Bosnian relations.
