During the event held in Budapest, the deputy chiefs of General Staff strengthened again their engagement in serving within Battalion Tisa, thus, helping each other in case of possible environmental disasters.

The four nations of the Multinational Engineer Battalion Tisa (Hungarian, Romanian, Slovakian and Ukrainian) – under the agreement signed in 2002 – participate together in helping local people and eliminating damages in case of a disaster in the watersheds of River Tisa or Danube. Fortunately, the battalion did not have to help so far. Because of the events of the past few years, from the limitations during the pandemic to the war in our neighbourhood, the four nations did not have the opportunity to do exercises and have training events together.

At the handover-takeover meeting, the Hungarian-Romanian military relations and the joint training possibilities were discussed, and the parties also informed one another about the details of strengthening the NATO east wing in their countries.
