Recognition for Hungarian soldiers serving in Kosovo
Text: KFOR HUNCON | Photo: by the contingent |  16:09 April 28, 2025Lieutenant Colonel András Szabó, the commander of KFOR Camp Novo Selo and First Lieutenant Balázs Szilágyi, a coordination officer at the HDF Joint Effects Analysis Center recently received medals for international cooperation. The recognitions of the Slovenian Ministry of Defence were presented at the handover-takeover ceremony of the Slovenian contingent serving in Kosovo.

Praising the recipients’ contribution to strengthening international cooperation, Lieutenant Colonel Iztok Stavanja, Commander, Kosovo Force (KFOR) Slovenian Contingent presented the recognitions, and Slovenia’s ambassador to Kosovo Minca Benedejčič also congratulated the two Hungarian officers serving in the peacekeeping mission.
With this recognition, the Slovenian side recognizes not only Lieutenant Colonel András Szabó’s and First Lieutenant Balázs Szilágyi’s conscientious and outstanding work as commander and liaison officer respectively, but also the reliable, high-standard presence of all Hungarian troops serving in Kosovo.
The decoration well reflects the exemplary cooperation between the Hungarian Defence Forces and the Defence Forces of Slovenia, which contributes to regional stability and strengthens trust and partnership among nations. Besides acknowledging personal performance, recognitions of this type also contribute to the deepening of international military relations and the success of multinational peacekeeping missions.
