Reporting from the U.S.: Flexibility Even in Extreme Conditions

The Hungarian reservists participating in the Ohio National Guard’s Combat Readiness Exercise 2026 (CRX26) are prepared for even the toughest challenges. The smoke from the wildfires raging in Canada has reached the state of Michigan, causing air quality in the Camp Grayling area to deteriorate dramatically. To protect the soldiers' health, exercise commanders ordered the temporary withdrawal of personnel from the field until the situation stabilizes.

But life goes on, and so does work. Hungarian and American soldiers are currently working together relentlessly on the barracks grounds, maintaining constant readiness and planning their next steps. Thanks to the logistical support provided by our American partners, the system is completely flexible: as soon as air quality improves, the unit can deploy to and return from the field within hours, on a daily basis, so that the exercises can continue as planned.
