At the two-day event, Serbian professionals were received at the Kecskemét-based base command of the HDF Material Supply Store Base (MSSB) and the Táborfalva base of the HDF MSSB Test Firing and Examination Department.

The meeting took place within the framework of bilateral international cooperation, aimed at introducing the specialities of the military metrology activities of the Hungarian Defence Forces to the Serbian party, as well as allowing the Hungarian party to learn about the same system of the Serbian Armed Forces.
As Lieutenant Colonel Lajos Unti, Head of the HDF MSSB Aeronautical Metrology Department told defence.hu, all modern armed forces have metrology professionals working in an effective organisational structure. Their tasks include calibration, adjustment and repair (if needed) of the mechanical and electronic measuring instrumentation used by the HDF for checking their military equipment. By way of example, he mentioned instruments for aircraft, battle tanks and air defence assets such as barometers, digital multimeters, frequency meters, generators as well as thermometers and hygrometers.

In the field of metrology, the accuracy of measuring instruments is checked with other, much more accurate devices (the so-called etalons). Values gathered like this are compared to those indicated on the device to be calibrated. The difference between the two values measured must be within a given range, and if this requirement is not met, the instrument cannot be used.
Members of the Serbian delegation praised what they had seen during the visit; besides, upon their return home, they made a suggestion to their superiors regarding a return visit to Serbia.
