Within the framework of the program, he held discussions with Commander of KFOR Major General Enrico Barduani, and personally met the Hungarian troops serving in the region.

Hungary has been participating in the Kosovo Force (KFOR) operation since 1999, and over the years, it has assumed an outstanding role in the peace mission. This commitment was further strengthened by Lieutenant General Ferenc Kajári’s command year, when he was at the helm of the NATO-led force from October 2021 to October 2022. Currently, the Hungarian Defence Forces are still supporting KFOR’s activity with significant capabilities, among them an infantry company, H145M light helicopter and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) unmanned aerial system (UAS). According to plans, starting from September 2025, Hungary will further extend its presence with a second infantry company and newer, modern drone technology.
During the discussion held with Major General Barduani, Lieutenant General Kajári emphasized that the stability of the Western Balkans is a significant strategic priority for Hungary. This is reflected in the continuous troop contribution and the intention of having the leadership positions filled with Hungarian soldiers at HQ KFOR Pristina in the future as well. The necessary negotiations with NATO and KFOR officials are currently in progress.
Major General Barduani spoke highly of the Hungarian troops’ dedication and performance, praising the soonest possible arrival of the planned new Hungarian capabilities. Lieutenant General Ferenc Kajári closed the official program by visiting Camp Novo Selo to personally meet the members of the Hungarian contingent. During the visit, he was informed about the living and service conditions of the personnel, briefed them about the current issues relating to the Hungarian Defence Forces, and answered the soldiers’ comments.
The visit has further strengthened Hungary’s commitment to regional peace and security, and reaffirmed the distinguished role of Hungarian troops in KFOR operations.
