Hungary has already been participating in 13 cooperation programs within the framework of NSPA, which plays a key role in strengthening the Alliance’s defence capabilities.

Out of the cooperation programs, Hungary is a founding member of the NATO Operational Logistics Support Partnership (OLSP), which recently celebrated its 15th anniversary. This is why Brigadier General Tibor Szabó, Chief of the HDF Defence Staff Logistics Directorate, and Brigadier General Ferenc Solymosi, Commander of the HDF Logistic Support Command, made a professional visit to the Luxembourg headquarters of the Agency. Among the members of the delegation was Colonel Zoltán Mezőfi, Head of the MoD Department for Economic Planning and Regulation, who represents Hungary in the NSPA Agency Supervisory Board (ASB).

During the discussions, the Agency’s logistic support capabilities and their possible applications were covered, and several new, possible cooperation fields were identified, which could contribute to the more effective logistic and medical support task execution of the HDF.

One of these fields is the creation of a multinational railway transport capability currently under development, or the exploitation of the possibilities offered by the Medical Support Partnership Programme supporting the implementation of complex medical projects. Besides discussing further cooperation fields, logistic support possibilities related to the HDF’s future operational commitments within the framework of the OLSP program received particular emphasis.

The Hungarian delegation was received by Orhan Muratli, Director, Support to Operations, NSPA, and Zoltán Nagy, Chief of Staff of the NSPA. It was emphasised that the highest-level Hungarian military delegation of the past decade arrived in Capellen, which shows well the strengthening of the cooperation. The NSPA has altogether 1200 employees in Luxembourg, France, Italy and Hungary, and plays a key role in the logistic support of NATO member states, as well as in coordinating defence procurements.
