EUFOR Operation Althea, the European Union’s peacekeeping mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, serves to maintain the region’s stability, maintain a safe and secure environment and support local armed forces. Besides their duties, soldiers participating in the mission regularly attend humanitarian and social initiatives.

This occasion for giving blood aimed at helping medical institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as deepening the relations and further strengthening cooperation between the EUFOR and the local population.

18 personnel from the HDF EUFOR contingent participated in the donation. Giving blood is a simple yet significant act, with which volunteers support the health of the population, improving the life quality of those receiving blood products, or even saving lives.

By giving blood, Hungarian comrades serving with the 30th rotation of the HDF EUFOR contingent, soldiers of other nations, as well as local and international civilian employees, also expressed their commitment to and solidarity for supporting the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina in need. Their service in the mission is not only about security but also about humanity and unity.
