Turkish Air Force Commander visits Hungary

Between 10–12 September, heading a delegation, General Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu, the Commander of the Turkish Air Force paid a visit to Hungary at the invitation of Major General Ferenc Kajári, Deputy Chief of HDF General Staff.

On 11 September, the delegation was received with military honors in Heroes’ Square, and subsequently, on a courtesy call, the Turkish guest held a discussion with Deputy Chief of Defence Major General Ferenc Kajári on the possible forms of military cooperation between the two countries, the security challenges caused by the Russo-Ukrainian War and the potential responses to them. Following the courtesy call, in a plenary session, the Turkish delegation received information about the progress of the ongoing armed forces modernization program of the Hungarian Defence Forces.

On 12 September, General Dr. Gábor Böröndi received General Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu on a courtesy call, during which the Chief of the HDF General Staff personally said thanks for the Turkish support provided in the field of military cooperation, in particular for the Turkish contribution to the enhanced Vigilance Activity Battle Group (eVA BG HUN).

The Commander of the Turkish Air Force closed his program with a professional visit to the HDF 101st Aviation Wing, where Wing Commander Colonel Gergely Gróf gave a brief introduction to the structure, tasks and future roles of the unit. In what followed, he discussed professional issues with Brigadier General Dr. József Koller, Acting Commander of the Hungarian Defence Forces Air Force Command, along with identifying joint efforts aimed at deepening the relationship and conducting professional cooperation between the Turkish and the Hungarian air forces.

During his visit, General Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu emphasized the close historical and cultural connections between the Turkish and the Hungarian nations, which are based on mutual respect, friendship and cooperation.
