In accordance with traditions, this year the Hungarian-Serbian joint warship training Live-Fire Exercise was carried out again. It was the participation of Romanian warship crewmembers that made the conduct of the training event special on the water shooting range of Titel, on the Serbian reach of River Tisza in late September: the nominated personnel of the Romanian Danube Flotilla joined the exercise in observer status.

The cooperation of the three nations at once signals another stage on the road to future joint training events. The Romanian participation can lay the basis for trinational cooperation in the implementation of the annually scheduled warship exercise in the future, similarly to the Romanian‒Serbian‒Hungarian warship Exercise Blue Danube.

As a highlighted phase of the training, the nominated personnel of the Warship Department of the HDF 1st EOD and Warship Regiment conducted a live fire exercise with the use of 20 mm PAV-4 anti-aircraft autocannon mounted on the deck of the mine countermeasures vessels (MCMVs). Among the Hungarian participants, the title “Best Gunner” went to Private First Class Roland Hárságyi, who demonstrated his preparedness during the live fire exercise through his performance.

Thus, Live-Fire Exercise 2026 has served not only the joint training of the Hungarian and Serbian warship crews, but also created another opportunity for the deepening of Hungarian‒Serbian‒Romanian warship cooperation.
