Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky quoted a famous Roman saying “If you want peace, prepare for war” and underlined that the Hungarian government always approaches its duties from the perspective of protecting the country. At the head of Hungary, there is a government that wants peace, while others are “rushing into the war” – added the defence minister. He said that conservative politics is needed to create peace. Peace is needed, so that children can be born and raised, and warmongering forces must be stopped, that is what the June elections will be about – said Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky.
The defence minister said that we are “testators and inheritors”, the good soldier is not watching who is before him but who is behind him, who he has to protect; that is why a conservative governance is developing the HDF. As opposed to this, he thinks that woke – the new form of communism – denies and attacks each identity, God, the home country, the nation, the family and the created gender binary, and also the state and the armed forces. But when it gains power, it has to fight a war for the ideology – he added. This is a historical experience in Central Europe – he said. He warned that in the USA, the youth are taught that their colonizer ancestors were terrible people, so fewer and fewer of them enlist as soldiers. According to a survey, only a third of Germans feel they would protect their country even with weapons. “We are sliding down a slippery slope towards a potential third world war” – he said, adding that the “woke-driven” Europe is not prepared for war because they disregard history, “they do not understand that nobody can be far enough from a nuclear war on Earth”.
However, the sovereign Hungarian government is building – based on the values left to us – Hungarian Defence Forces suitable to meet 21st-century challenges – emphasized the minister. He also mentioned that the HDF, besides high-tech equipment, also need to preserve their identity, which is why a Ministerial Commissioner for Military Identity has been appointed. Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky quoted a sentence from the novel by Géza Gárdonyi entitled Egri csillagok (Eger Stars), “the strength of the walls does not lie in the stones but in the souls of its defenders”.
“If we want to stay Hungarians, preserve our personal freedom and national independence, we have to believe in the force that gives the strength of the walls: the soul of the defenders” – he said. Hungary wants peace, therefore, it is building the necessary strength to achieve it – stated the defence minister.
