Text: defence.hu / MTI | Photo: Veronika Dévényi | 15:31 August 13, 2025We help the third of our NATO allies in wildfire control within a month, informed Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky the Hungarian Telegraphic Office (MTI) in a statement on Wednesday, 13 August.
As he wrote, this time, the Hungarian Defence Forces are participating in wildfire control in Montenegro. He underlined in the statement that an Airbus H225M helicopter of the HDF 86th Helicopter Wing left from Szolnok; the servicemembers will use a so-called Bambi Bucket to help the authorities of Montenegro in controlling the flames.
The minister recalled that in late July, Hungarian servicemembers similarly helped first in Albania, then in Bulgaria, to control wildfires caused by the drought and heat.
