Hungarian EU Presidency priorities to include defence industry development

Hardly six months before the Hungarian presidency, the most important defence policy issues of the EU are the development of the European Union’s defence industry, the Russo-Ukrainian War and the security of the Sahel – said Zsolt Kutnyánszky, MoD State Secretary for Defence Policy, Force Development and Defence Industry after the informal meeting of the EU’s defence ministers in Brussels.

On 17 May, EU Defence Ministers met in Brussels to discuss the implementation of the Strategic Compass, the creation of a Hub for EU Defence Innovation (HEDI), as well as the “Scoping EU defence investment gaps” analysis. Hungary was represented at the EU Foreign Affairs Council (Defence) meeting by Defence State Secretary István Szabó.
