On this and the far side of River Danube…

Figuratively speaking, the ferries and combat vehicles of the Hungarian Defence Forces occupied River Danube on 11 May. They crossed Hungary’s largest river first at Meszes-Gerjen, and then at Fajsz, under cover of night. The wet gap crossing operation of the Lynx infantry fighting vehicles of the HDF 30th Mechanized Infantry Brigade was assisted by soldiers of the HDF 14th Engineer Regiment and the Ohio National Guard.

Under the leadership of the battlegroup commander, servicemembers practised helicopter embarkation/disembarkation in Hódmezővásárhely on 5 May.

Hungarian Cadet Successes

“This is an event where secondary school students can demonstrate how well prepared they are,” said Major General Dr. László Drót about the competitors of the 10th National Military Tournament Competition (NMTC) and the 6th International Cadet Cup (ICC). Personnel Recovery in Tempest

Three weeks spent in an uninhabited forested area, at most a couple hours of sleep on end, food deprivation for up to several days, shelter-building from one own’s equipment, water purification, practical shooting, close quarters combat – this is how Charlie, the top-level course in Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE) training can be summed up in a few words. During the course, Hungarian soldiers practiced air extraction in Csobánka on 30 March.

At their homecoming ceremony held in Szentes, the Depuy Commander (Land) of the HDF Joint Force Command (HDF JFC) handed over recognitions to soldiers returning home from their service in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

HDF NCO Academy in International Focus

On 21 October, within the framework of a visit organized by the MoD Department for International Cooperation, the commander of the Hungarian Defence Forces Non-Commissioned Officer (HDF NCO) Academy received the members of the Budapest Military Attaché Corps (BMAC) in Szentendre. “To us, it is very important that we had a chance to introduce foreign defence attachés accredited in Hungary to the current training programs of the HDF NCO Academy, its achieved results and the current directions of development” – said Colonel Imre Frankó.
