Hungary is taking over the presidency of the Council of the European Union in a critical period when we have to navigate in a complex security environment and when defence is occupying a distinguished place in the EU’s agenda, said General Dr. Gábor Böröndi, Chief of HDF General Staff, at the Embassy of Hungary in Brussels on Wednesday, 3 July. Upon the proposal of the Hungarian presidency, the representatives of the EU Military Committee will not negotiate in Brussels but in a member state for the first time in the EU’s history; thus, Hungary will host this high-ranking event in October.

This year, Szolnok hosts the 46th World Military Parachuting Championship organized by the International Military Sports Council (CISM). Nearly 300 parachutists from 32 nations recently arrived in the garrison town to register on the day before the opening, occupy their accommodations and have a little rest before the world competition.

The Hungarian Defence Export Agency Ltd (VEX) had its own national pavilion at the Eurosatory 2024: The Global Event for Defence and Security in Paris between 17 and 21 June, which is one of the most prestigious European defence exhibitions. A main goal of VEX is to help the export activities of Hungarian companies in the defence industry by providing them with foreign business relations and opportunities. Therefore, 14 partners of VEX introduced themselves at the 120-square-metre national pavilion at Eurosatory.

Hungarian military type certificate to the brazilian KC-390 aircraft type

After more than two years of strenuous professional work, the type-worthiness inspection of the KC-390 military multi-purpose transport aircraft manufactured by the Brazilian company Embraer S.A., which will be system tuned by the Hungarian Defence Forces this year, has been successfully completed. The procedure was carried out by the State Aviation Department of the Ministry of Defence, as the military aviation authority responsible for the supervision of Hungarian state aviation, in accordance with the legal requirements for Hungarian state aviation.
