Austro-Hungarian Commemoration in Kosovo

On the occasion of All Saints’ Day, the Austrian and Hungarian KFOR contingents held a joint commemoration and wreath laying in the Austro-Hungarian military cemetery of the city of Peja, in the western part of Kosovo.

More than 200 soldiers rest in the city at the foot of the Accursed Mountains, who had fought and died in the Balkans theatre during World War I.

Among others, the event was attended by Béla Bozsik, Hungary’s ambassador to Kosovo, Ambassador László Domján, EU Integration Advisor to the Kosovar Government, and Clarissa Castek, Chargé d’Affaires a. i., Embassy of Austria in Kosovo, who all paid respect to the heroes fallen in World War I. In what followed, First Lieutenant Zoltán Máthé, military chaplain of the KFOR Tactical Reserve Battalion (KTRBN) blessed the memorial, where the representatives of the embassies and the contingents laid their wreaths.
