After nine years, the Multinational Logistics Coordination Centre (MLCC), which organisation plays an important role in the logistics cooperation and training of NATO and the EU, again held a meeting in Hungary.

The organisation held its meeting of the first half of 2025 at the HDF Recreation, Training and Conference Centre, Balatonakarattya, organised by the HDF Defence Staff Logistics Directorate. At the plenary session, the logistics leaders of the member states reviewed and assessed the annual activity of MLCC, discussed the challenges, introduced the planned tasks and made decisions about current issues.

The plenary session’s significance was enhanced by the ceremonious MLCC enlargement with Estonia as the 22nd member state.

MLCC was founded in 2009 by five countries – the Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Slovakia and the United States – to coordinate and enhance multinational logistics cooperation. The Praha-based organisation has been responsible for logistics training in NATO since 1 January 2016, but in the meantime, it has a similar role in the EU military logistics cooperation, too.

Among its main goals is the formation and development of multinational logistics capabilities, the enhancement of the efficiency of existing capabilities, the covering of logistics deficiencies, the optimisation of logistics support given to member states’ forces and the improvement of cost-effectiveness.

Its duties include the organisation of logistics training and courses, the preparation for and coordination of exercises, providing a consultation and decision-making forum for member states and the enhancement of multinational logistics cooperation.

As a founding member, Hungary has been undertaking an active role in the organisation’s activities from the beginning. Such as in the MLCC personnel, there has been a Hungarian position since 2013, which regularly organises courses and hosts international professional events.

Thanks to our country’s membership, several NATO logistics courses have been organised in Hungary in the past few years, which made it possible to train a considerable number of logistics professionals in an especially cost-effective manner.

It was in 2016 that the directorate of MLCC held a meeting in Hungary for the last time, which was in Budapest.
