Hungarian aid arrives in Slovenia

Two H145M helicopters of the Hungarian Defence Forces have flown to Slovenia to assist with the rescue efforts in the aftermath of one of the largest natural disasters in recent times, the Ministry of Defence informed Hungarian news agency MTI on Monday, 7 August.

Colonel Tamás Bali, the commander in charge of the operation told the press that according to plans, on Monday the Hungarian airmen would transport primarily non-perishable food and medicines for the residents of settlements isolated from the land by the surrounding flood water in the 100-kilometer zone of Slovenj Gradec Airport.

According to the information, on a single take-off, the helicopters can airlift almost 700 kilograms of food for the people in need.

During the rescue efforts, the Hungarian Defence Forces are fully cooperating with the Slovenian authorities, added the commander in charge of the operation.
