New German defence attaché arrives to pay introductory call

On Tuesday, 8 August in Budapest, Major General Ferenc Kajári, Deputy Chief, Hungarian Defence Forces General Staff received in his office Lieutenant Colonel Uwe Zvonar, the outgoing German defence attaché, and Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Passbach, the incoming one.

Major General Ferenc Kajári thanked the outgoing defence attaché for his support in the area of military cooperation between the two countries. The Deputy Chief of Defence and the incoming defence attaché discussed important topics such as strategic partnership between the Bundeswehr and the Hungarian Defence Forces, education and training, as well as the German–Hungarian cooperation in the fields of military equipment and the defence industry.

During the discussion, it was stated that Germany is an especially important partner for Hungary in the region, as is shown by its role in the development of the armed forces and the defence investments that have been implemented since 2017. In parallel with the ongoing military technology cooperation, Hungary intends to form strategic partnerships with Germany among the services of the two armed forces and in other fields as well.
