Hungarian DCOM KFOR completes one-year service
Text: Lieutenant Colonel Sándor Cseh | Photo: KFOR |  11:31 November 21, 2023Major General Zoltán Schmidt, Deputy Chief of Defence for Management, HDF General Staff recently represented the Hungarian Defence Forces at the handover-takeover (HOTO) ceremony of the Deputy Commander of KFOR (DCOM KFOR) position in Pristina.
COMKFOR Major General Özkan Ulutas received Major General Schmidt on an official visit, where they reviewed the tasks and challenges ahead of the KFOR mission in light of this year’s incidents. Major General Schmidt said that the leadership of the Hungarian Defence Forces pays particular attention to the support of the mission in the interest of successful task execution.
Brigadier General József Szpisják ceremonially transferred his position of DCOM KFOR to Brigadier General Frederico Bernacca at the military HOTO ceremony. Major General Özkan Ulutas thanked Brigadier General Szpisják for his service and emphasized his outstanding performance in supporting the 27th rotation of the mission. Among others, the event was also attended by Béla Bozsik, Hungary’s ambassador accredited to Kosovo and Ambassador László Domján, EU Integration Advisor to the government of Kosovo.
Following the ceremony, Major General Schmidt received a report about the current tasks of the contingent from Lieutenant Colonel Botond Hetényi, Commander of the 29th rotation of the HDF KFOR Contingent (KFOR HUNCON), while Lieutenant Colonel Róbert Rédei, Commander, Camp Novo Selo reported to him about the development projects affecting the daily life of the military base.
