Hungarian–Japanese cooperation: military medicine in focus
Text: Lieutenant Csenge Bíró | Photo: by the author |  09:26 July 6, 2023On 4 July, a delegation from the Ministry of Defence of Japan and the Embassy of Japan in Hungary paid a visit to the NATO Centre of Excellence for Military Medicine (NATO MILMED COE). The guests were received by Colonel Dr. László Fazekas, Director, NATO MILMED COE.
The members of the delegation representing the Ministry of Defence of Japan were Ms. (MD) Yoshie Nakayama, Deputy Director-General for Health and Medicine, Ministry of Defence of Japan and Colonel (MD) Satoshi Mimura, Bureau of Personnel and Education, Department of Health and Medicine, Ministry of Defence of Japan.
Among others, the purpose of the visit was to receive a general update about the workings of the MILMED COE, and to explore potential areas for future cooperation. As NATO’s global partner, Japan has shown great interest in the activities of the Centre. After the update, the delegation also visited the HDF Medical Centre to pay an introductory call on the head of military medicine at the Ministry of Defence as well.
The Japanese guests were accompanied from the Embassy of Japan by H. E. Masato Otaka, Ambassador of Japan to Hungary; Counsellor Ms. Junko Sato, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Japan; Megumi Enya, First Secretary, Head of Department of Political and General Affairs, Embassy of Japan; and Second Secretary Yuki Iwasaki, Head of PR Department, Embassy of Japan.
