At their meeting held in the Czech Republic in early December, logistic leaders of Hungary, the Czech Republic and Germany discussed the main directions of exercises and meetings to be organized in the next few years. The tri-national project called “Multinational Structured Partnership in Logistics (MN SPiL) provides continuous international presence and possibilities of cooperation in the interest of the coordinated execution of logistic tasks.

The host of the meeting was Colonel Karel Zapletal, Director, Logistic Developments Board, Logistic Directorate at the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic. The German partner was represented by Colonel Martin Stolte, Deputy Commander, Bundeswehr Logistic Command, whilst the Hungarian delegation was headed by Brigadier General Ferenc Solymosi, Commander, HDF Logistic Support Command.

The aim of the international cooperation among the three nations is to establish tactical-level logistic subunits meeting NATO criteria according to capabilities, while continuously maintaining operational readiness. One of the basic projects of this is the deployable Bulk Fuel Installation (BFI) capability, another is a task system based on the establishment and operation of a medium transport company.

At the conference, the participants reviewed and assessed the tasks of 2025, highlighting the exercises Safety Fuel and Safety Transport, which provided excellent opportunities for experts of the three nations to execute coordinated tasks through the real-world logistic support of major international exercises.

This year’s outstanding task from Hungary’s point of view was the integration of the activity of the Hungarian–Czech–German medium transport company into the domestically organized but internationally highly significant Exercise Adaptive Hussars 2025.

The other significant international task was the fielding of BFI and the provision of fuel supply during international exercises Quadriga 2025 and Brave Blue 2025 in Lithuania, organized within the framework of the Quadriga exercise series of the German armed forces.

At the meeting in the Czech Republic, the logistic leaders approved the tasks involved in the development of a technical agreement that forms the basis of the MN SPiL, the mid-term goals and the participation of the medium transport company in the multinational logistic system Exercise Capable Logistician to be held in 2027. The main task for the next period will be to conduct training for the exercise, in terms of fuel and transportation capabilities alike.

The cooperation of the three nations continues to be open for other nations and organizations, which is important because other states have already expressed their interest in developing multinational logistic capabilities. Since last year, the Czech Republic has been a full member of the cooperation. Croatia and Slovakia maintain their observer status in the project, and this was the first time for the participants to welcome the Netherlands, which is currently familiarizing itself with the possibilities as an invited guest.

The logistic leaders closed their discussion by signing a document containing the mid-term goals of the Multinational Structured Partnership in Logistics project.
