Brigadier General Tibor Szabó, Chief of Staff of the European Union’s peacekeeping mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, was awarded the Medal for International Cooperation Grade II, by the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Sajović, in recognition of his close cooperation with the Slovenian contingent in EUFOR Operation Althea and of his contribution to the development and reputation of the Slovenian Ministry of Defence and the Slovenian Armed Forces.

The high-ranking recognition was presented by Lieutenant Colonel Jure Lampe, Chief of Operations, EUFOR Headquarters, on behalf of the Slovenian contingent’s commander and senior national representative.
The recognition confirms the Hungarian Defence Forces’ commitment to the stability of the Western Balkans, as well as the preparedness and professional performance of the Hungarian soldiers serving in EUFOR, also on the international level.

The Hungarian Defence Forces currently fill two key general positions at the EUFOR Headquarters in Sarajevo. Brigadier General Bálint Legoza took over the deputy commander’s position on 18 March 2026 for one year, while Brigadier General Tibor Szabó is scheduled to hand over his position, at the end of his one-year mission service, to his Romanian successor in the middle of May.
