German-Hungarian logistic preparation in Lithuania

As of 20 August 2025, servicemembers from the German and Hungarian subunit have had a one-month joint preparation at the seaport of Klaipeda. They received a real-world task: they have to provide fuel supply for the military equipment of exercises BRAVE BLUE 25 and GRAND EAGLE 25. Within the framework of NATO Reception, Staging and Onward Movement (RSOM), they installed a BFI with a 300,000-litre storage capacity, then provided fuel supply by carrying out service tasks.
The exercise provides an opportunity for further developing joint task execution and deepening international logistics cooperation. A tangible example of this development is that Hungarian soldiers joined the German march column already in Poland, thus they also participated in the joint regrouping, instead of merely arriving at the site of the BFI, as in the previous years.

BFI Commander Colonel Ákos Kocsis met Colonel Christoph Schladt, Commander of the Bundeswehr Logistics Regiment 1, and Lieutenant Colonel Oliver Reinholtz, Director of Exercises SAFU 25 and BRAVE BLUE 25, who informed him about the preparations, objectives and task system of Exercise QUADRIGA 2025 – developing the logistics, supply tasks –, as well as about the satellite exercises and their connection points.
“SAFU 25 is of special significance as currently this is the only exercise in Lithuania in which, besides German soldiers, the soldiers of another nation are also participating”, said Colonel Christoph Schladt, who gave thanks to the Hungarian personnel for their outstanding professional work so far.
