The situation in Sudan has made it necessary to bring Hungarians home from Sudan with the coordination of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and with the participation of the Counter Terrorism Centre, using the capacities of the Hungarian Defence Forces – stated Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky in a video uploaded to his Facebook page on Saturday.

Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky said that in the interest of this, they are very closely monitoring the events happening there. “Peace requires strength, so we carry on the work”, he added.

The minister pointed out that the Hungarian people’s security always comes first, wherever they be in the world.

Clashes between the army and armed paramilitary forces have been going on in Sudan for a week, and the situation is escalating into a civil war, the comment to the video says, according to which several countries besides Hungary have already started evacuating their citizens.
